How long is the typical work day?
Election Worker’s typically work from 6:00 AM until around 8:00 PM on Election Day.
Can I work at my own precinct?
The Elections Office will try to assign you to work in your precinct; but will assign you to a Polling Location based on the needs of the county.
How can I cast my ballot?
Election Workers, as well as all voters, are encouraged to participate in the accurate convenience of Voting by Mail or Voting Early. If you are assigned to work in your precinct, you may cast your ballot on Election Day.
Can I go home for lunch or run an errand during the work day?
No. All Election Workers are required to remain at their assigned location for the duration of the work day. Election Workers are advised to bring all the necessary food and snacks they will need through out the day with them to the Polling Location.
Do I have to reapply each year to be an Election Worker?
Once you have worked an election, you are an Active Election Worker, and do not need to reapply each year. However, you will have to complete all required training before an election.
How do I know if I have been appointed to work an election?
You will be notified by phone, email, and text regarding your Election Worker position, training schedule and assigned Polling Location.
Can family members work in the same Polling Location?
Yes. However, family members cannot be assigned to the Clerk and Assistant Clerk Election Worker position.
What type of training is required to become an Election Worker?
Per Florida Statutes (FS 102.014), Election Workers are required to complete specialized training based on their assigned Election Worker position and training to be able to accommodate the needs of voters during Early Voting and Election Day.
Can I be an Election Worker in Calhoun County if I live in another county?
No. Only Registered Voters of Calhoun County are eligible to work as Election Workers.
If I miss an election and do not work, can I keep the same position for the next election?
Each election has its own work requirements. You are not guaranteed the same position or to work but will be considered upon request and availability.
